Following on from a previous post about Manuel Pellegrini's Madrid, I came across the following video which features the Chilean coach.
It is a brief 'UEFA Training Ground' interview with the coach in which he outlines his basic philosophy and preferred formations. As I suspected, the interview reinforces Pellegrini's predilection for a 4-2-2-2 formation, which I analysed in the previous post.
Do check it out:

Thanks,

very interesting. I also thought Roy Hodgson's videos are quite interesting in that section.
ReplyDeleteHodgson is slowly but surely getting the credit he deserves.

Manuel has impressed me with how he's kept a lid on the locker room, dealt with star egos, and been willing to play fresh legs and rotate the squad.
ReplyDeleteStill, the current Madrid is sooo different from his Villareal team. I read a great interview about the Bernabeu "pitadas" and the need to go forward for all 90 minutes in front of the blanquillo faithful
Hi Roberticus,
ReplyDeleteI've blogged on Real Madrid today, borrowing heavily from both yourself and this Pellegrini video. Would be interested to hear your thoughts.
Cheers,
Tom

Hey Tom,
ReplyDeletewill check out your blog shortly

A while back I saw something like a new post on Barca and return on the 3-3-3-1 (or something similar)..seems to have disappeared. Any plans to put that post up anytime soon?
ReplyDeleteHey KW.
ReplyDeletere: vanishing post on Barça's 3-3-1-3
that's right; you weren't imagining things!
I just wrote the title as a reminder for myself and accidently pressed 'publish'.
I will publish it in due course, but only after I've mastered the use of some new graphics which might do it justice.
Regards,
Rob
